taken back into the actual episodes of abuse as these shattered women reveal their experiences. In the retelling, one is exposed to all of the physical and psychological violations, and what is observed is how all of those scarred, attendant entrails emanated from their childhood, enveloped them, and made them into the fractured adults that they now are.
Delving into the material from a singular point of view, 'Taking The Long Way Home'
is one woman's odyssey, a journey that she perceives to be one of a long, solitary,
disillusioned road to nowhere. Imbued with a finite desire to get away from a ruinous
existence, she attempts, grasping at the last vestiges of her courage and integrity,
to find an exit so that she may get back to the individual that she never was but always
wanted to be.
'Mandatory Refusal' is written through the eyes of the abuser, thereby allowing us to
leap off the precipice of normality into the mind of a predator. Following him from the
early stages of childhood, up through and past distorted and divergent paths, we watch
as he is propelled to become one who is the culmination and and ruination of the lives
of others.
In these three stories, the disillusionment of the soul, which is the prism through
which these individuals see their lives, is used to strip away the inherent facades of
those who hide behind their deceit while perpetuating all of the damage and abuse. In
that vein, many of today's acceptable social mores are exposed, a head-on collision with
the progenitors of moral responsibility: the parents, relatives, educators,
psychologists, pedophile priests, and others of that ilk.
